A. Our Service

· What is Radiobeta?

Radiobeta it’s a social platform around the radio world.

We don’t know exactly what it will became, but right now it allows you to reach, comment, share your local and around the globe radio stations. You may also save them, follow them, interact with them, look at their shows and particular events and host, interact with them, interact with other listeners… and since is beta we can’t really tell what it is, but we know where we want to be: making your listening to the radio a more meaningful experience thanks to the web.

· Do I have to pay anything for using the site or to listen to any radio?

No. The site and all the stations included are public and free (we exclude otherwise).

· Do I need an account?

No, but to register is also free and you will be able to manage your desktop where you can save your favorite stations, follow your favorite stations, shows, events, host and other listeners and interact with all of them. So, if you are not register you can use the site as a web radio tuner but miss your favorite presets and much of the radio community.

· Radiobeta Updates: What is it about?

How many times we wondered what is happening on some specific stations? What are they saying, playing, etc.? This would be great to decide which station to listen, right?

Check this out:

What is happening right now on the on your local stations: http://radiobeta.com/updates/

What is happening on all the stations from around the world: http://radiobeta.com/updates/global

An this applies to everything, at any given result from your search, for example “Classical Stations” Or “Paris Stations” you can click on “Updates” on the top right of the result pages to see what are those stations saying.

You can follow specific station too, just… follow them to keep in touch with your favorites stations updates directly from your desktop.

· There is one radio that I like to listen and is not in Radiobeta, can I request it?

Of course you can, which one? Remember that we only approve stations that are public and free – and they should broadcast through the internet in order to listen them on our site.

· Radiobeta App

You can add our app to your site, blog, portal, etc. to allow your users to listen to one or several stations. Please visit our developers platform site where you will be able to customize the app with your logo, analytics, own apps and own ads in order to monetize it. If your users are radio listeners too you will increase their satisfaction and your revenues.

If you are a Webmaster who own an app and would like to distribute it through our app market for our widget you are very welcome to do so.

· Desktop and Facebook apps

We have a desktop apps for Window, Mac and Linux, which so far is just a radio tuner.

We have a Facebook app too which you can add to your profile or page.

B. Technical Issues

· What software or browser plug-ins do I need to be able to listen?

Depends on your operating system and navigator, most radios stream under three types: Windows Media, MP3 or AAC. If the station streams under MP3 you don’t need anything, but that is not always the case.

All the software required is FREE and you may easily download them from their official websites:

A. Software needed:

a.i. On windows: Windows Media Player (comes by default) -Download-

a.ii. For others OS we suggest VLC -Download-

B. Plug-ins needed:

b.i. Windows users on Firefox or Chrome needs the Windows Media Player Plug-in for Browsers -Download-

b.ii. Mac users on Firefox or Chrome and only needs the VLC Plug-in for Browsers - Intel Mac - Download- / Power PC - Download –

b.iii. Linux users (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, etc.) need VLC and Totem (with Totem Windows Media Player connector)

C. Problems to listen

Make sure that:

1. The volume of your PC is not at minimum or muted.

2. You have your speakers properly connected and turned on.

3. You have installed all the audio plug-ins according to your browser and operating system. In the case you don't, a pop up from the player should automatically invite you to free download them. (see Technical Issues above)

Even so with some radio stations you may find that:

A. It's very difficult to connect and you have to try several times to do so.

Radio Station through the internet are able to stream to a limited number of user simultaneously (this varies according to their technology). When this amount is exceeded it's impossible to reach the station. There's no other option that to try again until it finally connects.

B. Even though you try several times, the station doesn't work.

Maybe Stream URL has changed and is not updated on our site. If this is the case, by just clicking on "problems” and warn us that the radio is not working is enough to call to our attention and we will fix it as soon as possible.

C. The audio sometimes interrupt or keeps "buffering"?

This is mainly due to congestion in the network. You may find difficulties to access to stations if you are sharing your internet with several pcs (very common at the office). It also could be due to your internet connection, not having enough bandwidth to listen to that particular station. In this cases there is nothing you or us can do except changing to a broader bandwidth connection or share your internet connection with less people. If you have too many applications open, it could slow down your media streaming. If you notice things are sluggish, close all unnecessary applications and windows running on your computer. Just keep your Web browser open.

D. Miscellaneous

· You have a Band and you would like your music to be played in the radio

Send you material directly to a station. You'll probably find the contact information in their website. We don't have direct contact with the stations.
