Our hearts are heavy as we post this status update following Saturday's tragic loss of one of our students, Evan Bard. The obituary below has been shared with us by Evan's family and includes information about funeral services - The life of our beautiful princess, Evan Minor Bard, was tragically taken on May 11th. Evan's personality and smile would light up any room and her willingness to help others assures she will be missed by many. Evan was a 2010 graduate ofAgawam High School, where she was a member of the cheer squad for 4 years. Always having a heart for children, Evan chose the nursing program at Curry College, in Milton MA, where she cheered and was a Dean's List student. Curry quickly became her family. She loved her nursing classmates, her professors, her many Curry friends but, most of all, her cheer family and roomies. Evan was the cherished daughter of Todd and Barbara (Plante) Bard of Agawam and the much-adored older sister of Leisl and Elijah, both of whom she loved beyond words. Granddaughter of Edward and Dorothy (Minor) Plante (Mimi & Grampa) of Feeding Hills and Francis and the late Roberta (Bonyeau) Bard of Westfield. Treasured niece of Craig & Michelle Plante of Feeding Hills, Godmother Kathleen Plante of Springfield, John & Laura Plante of Glastonbury, CT, Robert Bard of Easthampton, Keith & Kevin Bard, both of Westfield, and Godfather Chris and his wife, Wendy, Bard of Westfield. Evan leaves many adored cousins Addison Plante, Spencer Plante, Kieran Summers, Reile Plante, Quinn Plante, Joshua Bard, Justin Bard, Taylor Bard and Cody Bard as well as many extended family members, especially Ashley Gearing and Katherine Kalill. Calling hours will be Friday, May 17, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St, Westfield. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m., at Westfield Evangelical Free Church at 568 Southwick Rd in Westfield. Everyone is welcome to wear pink in honor of Evan's legendary love of the color. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the newly formed EvvGirlFoundation, Inc., at PO Box 466, Agawam MA 01001. Funds raised will be used to support causes near and dear to Evan's heart, including local Neo-Natel Intensive Care Units (NICU).
