THE HANOVER PARK YOUTH FORUM: The Youth Forum is a group of young people that have taken a pledge to be the mentors and leaders who are refusing to succumb to a life of drugs and gangsterism. PROGRAMME, INCLUDED: - Heart104.9 FM Sports anchor, Nick Feinberg, who shared a very personal and emotional message. This was one of the highlights of the day. Nick was supported by Drive 326 host, Suga and Son of Cape Town: Clarence Ford. - An interesting talk by 7de Laan's Zane Meas . Zane recently launched the Fatherhood Foundation of South Africa. - A presentation by the MEC for Social Development Albert Fritz, who was a resident of Hanover Park - A presentation by Deputy Director for Correctional Services, Jerome Samuels, who explained the young people should embrace their own identity and refuse the Identity given by gangs like the Americans and the Mongrels. - A powerful presentation by Community Leader, Craven Engel, who shared how the Ceasefire project that has been implemented in Hanover Park has seen a reduction of 66% in gang violence over the last year. - A powerful plea from Lucinda Evans, a resident of Lavender Hill who made an impassioned plea for help for the community of Lavender Hill. 18 Gang members have been killed in Lavender Hill between April and May this year. 6 Innocent young bystanders have also been fatally injured in the same period. The Hanover Park community leaders have pledged to partner the community of Lavender Hill. - A performance by the legendary Bass Player Jonathan Rubain Band and entertainer Luqmaan Adams

Over a 1000 people - young and old piled into a packed to capacity Hanover Park Civic Centre for this special celebration for their youth. #HeartBeats4Youth

Just a random question for you. If you were going to be on a huge billboard for everyone to see. Would you rather be photoshopped to look GREAT, but people see you in real life and think you look worse. Or, look BAD on a huge billboard, but have people think you look much better in real life?

According to an online poll THESE are the top 10 worst father's day gifts. I can think of a LOT worse things to get. 10. His and Her Matching Outfits: Don't do it. I've seen these couples walking around amusement parks, and they look ridiculous. 9. The Traditional Tie: These ties usually scream old-fashioned, and that you didn't spend long thinking about what to get. If you must get a tie, try an ascot or cool bow tie. 8. Boxers or Briefs: Please let the dad in your life buy his own undergarments. I mean really, are we in kindergarten? Should we also write their names on their clothing labels? 7. Cooking Utensils: Anything that has to do with the kitchen is usually not a good idea. A lot of men I know don't even like to cook. But, they do like to grill. So, think along those lines. Omaha Steaks, for example, could go over well. 6. A Mug: EVERYONE already has too many! Just because your dad likes coffee does not mean he wants anymore mugs. If you do try this gift out, don't get mad when you're helping dad clean out the basement one day and you discover all your wonderful gifted mugs down their with the cobwebs. 5. Socks: I'm embarrassed to admit I've actually gotten a man socks before. I don't know what I was thinking. I own the faux pas. So, whatever. What someone wants, and what someone needs are definitely NOT the same thing. I learned that the hard way. 4. T-shirts: At a local drug store I once saw a sale for white T-shirts. They were going for something like 3 for $5. All I kept thinking is: This is so lame. Who wants a T-shirt as a gift? Most of them shrink anyhow! 3. Stuffed Animals: This is cute if it's coming from a little kid. It's not so cute when it's coming from anyone over the age of 12. Furthermore, it's a bit odd, and will have the man in your life wondering if you are OK. 2. Anything That Says "Greatest Dad": It might be tempting to grab the Father's Day plaque out of the card shop. But, it's cheap, and lame, and will collect dusk being a paper weight. 1. A Lawn Mower: Let's all say this one together: NO ONE wants to be reminded of chores they have to do. For men, that means NO LAWN MOWERS! An item that basically forces him to do work -- now with no excuses -- isn't the gift to get. If you're a mom, would you really want someone to buy you laundry detergent, a vacuum, or gardening gloves? Of course not.
