Gov. Pat Quinn and lawmakers are working on a new plan to solve the state's $97 billion pension crisis that involves forming a bipartisan committee and reconvening the Legislature again in July. Lawmakers will meet in Springfield Wednesday for a special session called by Quinn to deal with pensions. But Quinn's spokeswoman told The Associated Press Tuesday that the governor will call an additional session in ``early July'' for lawmakers to keep working on the problem. The House and Senate are split over rival plans on how to solve the crisis. Quinn's proposal for a committee to overcome the stalemate was initially rejected by House Speaker Michael Madigan. But his spokesman said Tuesday that he has warmed to the idea. Lawmakers are scheduled to consider pension legislation at hearings Tuesday.

Tonight at 8 p.m., “Q” presents a feature interview with folk icon Joni Mitchell . Jian Ghomeshi travelled to her home in Los Angeles where they had a wide-ranging conversation. During the interview Jian asked, “How comfortable are you with being venerated?” Joni said, “Depends on the venerator. You know, I mean, in a certain way, honor died in World War Two. You know, it just kinda died. Not very many people know how to do it anymore. If they honor you wrong, it makes you arrogant, because it stung. If they honor you right, it's humbling because it's inspiring.”

A little more of Bill Kurtis as he prepares for the release o Anchorman II.Fotos de la biografíaHi Everyone, a lot of you are asking about Carl’s recent absence from the show. He’s had a few health issues arise over the past few weeks and he’s off again this week. Like the rest of you, we’re eager for his return and we know he misses hanging out with Peter and doing bad impressions from the news. But don’t take our word for it, here’s a message from the man himself: "The rumors of my demise have been grossly exaggerated. I am however, dying to return to Wait Wait. The Docs suggest that in order to get over this inflammation of the arteries thing, I need to rest, eat well and exercise. I can and will do those things. I will try to accept this and be a good patient and obey the powers that be. In the meantime I’m bored out of my mind. I very much look forward to getting back on the job soon doing what I have the most fun doing, being on the radio with all of my dear listeners, friends and colleagues. The very best to you all and thank you so much for your kind concern and good wishes. It really helps. Carl" Carl will be back soon. In meantime, we know he’d love to hear from you. Please leave your well-wishes here or write him directly at: Carl Kasell, NPR, 1111 N Capitol St NE, Washington, DC 20002
