In our lives, we have multiple opportunities to be offended. Whether well-intentioned or deliberate hurt crosses our path - how will we respond? This morning, a friend of mine had posted that she had recently experienced betrayal - and someone commented, "Love like you've never been hurt." Wow - oh to live with such grace and dignity. Proverbs 19:11b "It is to one's glory to overlook an offense." (NIV) Love the way The Message version puts it as well "their grandeur is to forgive and forget." "But I can't forgive!" you may say..."you don't know what they did to me!" According to these reminders from Scriptures you only rob yourself of glory and grandeur. Remember - God doesn't expect you to do this on your own! He loves it when we lean heavily on His grace - His mighty enabling to help us do the tough stuff. We were MADE for hard things - because His Spirit lives in us, and nothing is impossible with our God! ~Carlene Prince

Wanted to share these thoughts I was journaling out this morning - hoping it will encourage you! ~Carlene This morning I'm pondering: Is a closed heart related to a seared conscience? For if something doesn't concern me, (and it should), then I'm not feeling something I should be feeling: whether that feeling should be concern, remorse, gratitude, danger, opposition, support, joy, pain, etc. A hardened heart won't feel any of these things. Neither will a heart shut down by pain or fear. So as much as some think all emotion is a threat, perhaps you should be grateful for it - for if you feel things, I would venture to say your heart is at very least alive, and if it's alive, it's not closed off - and if it's not closed off, it can spark conscience, and if it can spark conscience, you will be notified by a "joy bell" of sorts when something is good and right, and a "warning bell" of sorts when something is wrong or destructive. If you can see clearly the lines between right and wrong, and if the line between good and evil is not blurred or obscure, you will hopefully be prompted towards wise living - which will spare you more heartache than you can currently see at this post in your life. Are we supposed to be all head and no heart? How about all heart and no head? Neither - as extremes are dangerous and it is not wise to live by "all or nothing" mentalities. Mind and heart, I firmly believe, are created by God, to work in glorious harmony together. They were never meant to be enemies, but allies, promoting wise and righteous living, ...leading to the abundant life Jesus promised. Wake up your heart today and allow your conscience to operate fully. It may hurt to feel, and conscience may throw into your path a tough choice you have to make, but you can celebrate the One who made you with both heart AND conscience - He created these tools to pave the way for a very, very good life. Live, and live fully!! (Carlene Prince)

I loved our reading this morning for our staff-time devotions. Wanted to share it in case it helps you today! ~Carlene Luke 5:6-8 "When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!" It's as if the fish have appeared out of nowhere, as if they have been dropped into the nets from out of the blue Galilean sky. It's the kind of catch of which legends are made, a net-ripping catch! They call their partners to bring the other boat over and heave to. Even with their help the boats almost sink. In response to the miraculous catch, Peter asks for what he really does not want - he asks for Jesus to leave. But what's so terrifying about a net full of fish? Even the miraculous fact that they had come from out of nowhere, out of a lake they knew was empty, is an occasion for wonder certainly, but fear? PRAY: When God gives us more than we prayed for, we usually don't know what to do. Pray that you will respond wisely when your prayers are answered in abundance. A thunderstorm rolled through the area last evening taking down a power line and sparking a small grass fire near the tower site. Our faithful engineer Ron is headed that way and we'll let you know ASAP how long we'll be off. Please pray for safety and smooth repairs!

Earl, Joanna, and I got the opportunity to attend a National Day Of Prayer breakfast this morning. We enjoyed worship, corporate prayer, and prayer at our individual tables at which we sat. It was so moving to hear all these voices from different tables being lifted up at the same time petitioning the Creator for various things on our hearts for our nation and our world. What sticks out to you from a gathering you attended for the NDOP? ~Carlene
