I loved our reading this morning for our staff-time devotions. Wanted to share it in case it helps you today! ~Carlene Luke 5:6-8 "When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!" It's as if the fish have appeared out of nowhere, as if they have been dropped into the nets from out of the blue Galilean sky. It's the kind of catch of which legends are made, a net-ripping catch! They call their partners to bring the other boat over and heave to. Even with their help the boats almost sink. In response to the miraculous catch, Peter asks for what he really does not want - he asks for Jesus to leave. But what's so terrifying about a net full of fish? Even the miraculous fact that they had come from out of nowhere, out of a lake they knew was empty, is an occasion for wonder certainly, but fear? PRAY: When God gives us more than we prayed for, we usually don't know what to do. Pray that you will respond wisely when your prayers are answered in abundance.
